In Fuse IDE then the JMX explorer may not appear to work, if you try to expand local processes, and nothing is shown.

The problem could be that you may have upgraded the JDK, or misconfigured the JDK settings in the Fuse IDE settings.
See screenshot.

For example I upgraded from _18 to _31 and had the JDK settings changed/upgraded in various part of my windows box.
But Fuse IDE JMX explorer did not work for me, until I found this settings where I changed the path, and now it works again.

I think end users may hit this problem and we should add a FAQ.

We could possible also add some check in Fuse IDE, so when people try to use the JMX explorer with the local processes, then we can check whether that settings is correct, and the tools.jar can be found. If not we could show an error dialog about this problem to the end user.

Added a message that shows up at the top of the JMX and Fabric explorers if tools.jar isn't on the class path. The message includes a link to the preferences page where they can rectify this.
