Community Member Poll

Survey Structure

An invitation was sent to all registered community members to see what particular functions they would like to see in a Web video. The choices were taken from the list of use cases for the Logisticx Demo. For each topic, members were asked how interested they would be in viewing a web video demonstrating that particular function.

Possible responses were:

  • "not interested"
  • "possibly interested"
  • "interested"
  • "very interested"

Survey Results

We received 59 complete responses. The top subjects are those that received 80% or more "interested" or "very interested" responses:

  • Route a message based on the content of the message
  • Transform a message from one format to another
  • Connect multiple instances of the Fuse ESB
  • Use the Enteprise Integration Patterns with the Fuse ESB
  • View management and monitoring for the Fuse components
  • Access external web services from within the Fuse ESB
  • Load balance messages between multiple instances of the Fuse ESB
  • Host a web service within the Fuse ESB

Open-ended feedback

Respondents were also asked a single open-ended question:

What recommendations do you have for our site? Are there demos or other content (video or other) that you would like to get from open.iona.com?

  • For me all you suggest are great, and I will learn a lot with your demos.
  • All demo about Fuse/eclipse plugin will be great. Fuse take is late when it is compared to NetBean and OpenESB.
  • Other stream could be showing JBI force by deploying OpenESB component to SMX and vice versa.
  • All about monitoring but also instrumentation(alert if a response take more than x minutes) could be demark fuse from is opensource concurrent. Folowing your impresive work and hope you will continue long time. Thanks, Phil
  • A demo with rules engines
  • How Web service security can be managed in the Fuse ESB, within a BPEL process, for example. On a broader canvas, how identity and access management can be handled.
  • Maven tools dev
  • LDAP integration
  • Hello World level tutorials that build on a common theme and bring each set of components into play one at a time. Some what like a self paced on-line course. Where I work there is some risk aversion and resistance to using ESB and I can't mitigate this concern until I have enough understanding to build a small proof of concept. Thanks for all the hardwork your team has done to date!!
  • Enrich demo applications with complex scenarios (example: transactionality among different resources DB, JMS, EJB3)
  • BPEL designer & runtime recommendations (design in Eclipse BPEL or ActiveEndpoints) Are there any other BPEL runtime engines integrated with FUSE besides ODE?
  • Integration with Intalio|BPMS
  • How to set up ESB on the UNIX Box, which can have customisez bootstrpa properties being read from a central repositor, which helps in building a image for a particular business.
  • Would like to see an end to end implementation off request/reply webservices. Routing incoming messages through different endpoints en return information.
  • The power point presentation that was presented for the roap map for ServiceMix 4.0 shown at JAOO 2007 in Aarhus, Denmark.
  • Imporove the GUI
  • Would like more on Graphical configuration and Datasource mapping
  • I am the most interested in
    • monitoring
    • tuning
    • changing settings at runtime
  • Error handling and auditing in FUSE
  • The Product demo is interesting, but it would be nice to have a real explanation of the demo and make it work without having to set environment variables and the classpath for deploying it in the Spring container.
  • It would be very interesting to have tutorials how to hook services into ServiceMix that are not deployed into the servicemix deploy directory, but on a separate webserver/application server/ stand-alone. It would be nice to see tutorials that make clear how the service is connected to servicemix and how a consumer application (that is also not deployed in the servicemix deploy directory) can access the service via servicemix.
